Introducing NEH - a Swedish brand inspired by a meditation ceremony

London, UK. May 28th, 2024. Creator of the scent-discovery platform SNIPH, Tara Derakshan is no stranger to curating, showcasing, and working with the best scents the perfume industry has to offer. In her latest business venture, the Stockholm-based perfume connoisseur grows from within and embarks on the launch of her own perfume label NEH.  

Inspired by an introspective journey as part of a sacred plant ceremony in 2019, Derakshan found herself wishing to reclaim parts of herself she’d forgotten. The first one? Her name. 

Known as Tara, Derakshan’s full name is Taraneh, which gives name to her new passion project. NEH -pronounced like the French word for nose, "nez" -  launched as a perfume house where master perfumery meets mindfulness and is inspired by the transformative power of scent. Each perfume is meant to help you awaken and remember your true essence, through the evocative power of scent,  the  house invites you to uncover yourself – over and over again.

The Altered States Collection 

“Our first collection of scents – The Altered States Collection – embodies six supersensory fragrances that inspire, awaken, and activate. The collection aims to enrich your life with the essence of a sacred ceremony – a moment to connect to yourself, as each carefully crafted fragrance carries a unique intention and energy. Paired with thoughtfully composed affirmations and mood-enhancing sounds, they  invite you to reconnect with yourself and assist you on your path toward remembrance, well-being, and wisdom,” says Derakshan.  

Comprising six scents in total, the first drop of the house was made in collaboration with the renowned perfumers at fragrance atelier Flair Paris. The scents are made of high-quality, largely natural, raw materials, created to recall one’s true essence. Mirroring the various stages of a plant ceremony, each scent is crafted to inspire you to access deeper layers of yourself. Six fragrances - six messengers to help you remember.

The fragrance collection consists of six distinct scents, each accompanied by affirmations and daily practices to evoke specific feelings and intentions.

• The Opening: Symbolizing new beginnings, this scent encourages curiosity and courage. Notable notes include cardamom, violet, sandalwood, and elemi, creating a blend that invites you to set intentions daily and embrace life's transformative journey.

• The High: Embodying freedom and elevated perspective, this scent features notable notes like litsea, cannabis leaf, white musk, and clean leather. It prompts you to transcend limitations, observe thoughts with clarity, and connect with your higher self.

• The Light: With affirmations of safety, this scent invites you to choose joy and release burdens. Notable notes include pink pepper, vanilla, rhubarb, and cashmere wood, encouraging self-love and reflection on personal values, illuminating your inner light.

• The Element: Representing playfulness, this scent combines lychee, caramel, elemi, and oakmoss to spark creativity and joy. Its daily practice encourages embracing what brings you alive and tapping into childlike wonder.

• The Flavor: Focusing on presence and pleasure, this scent combines coconut, jasmine, red berries, and modern woods to savor life's gifts fully. Its practice involves enjoying a meal mindfully, amplifying awareness of simple pleasures.

• The Vibration: Rooted in self-love, this scent blends peach, Bulgarian rose, sandalwood, and white musks to harness inner magic. Its daily practice cultivates gratitude and visualization, tapping into the vibration of love within oneself.

Each scent's unique blend of notes adds depth and character, enhancing the experience of engaging with intentions and inner selves daily. At the same time, they’re designed to be accompanied with original sounds including meditation music, frequency healing and affirmations to create a sonic experience for all your senses.
